Youth Leader - Sailing (Entering Grades 8-9)

This is a VOLUNTEER position for participants.

Brewster Recreation Department’s Youth Leader (YL) Program is designed for students who are entering Grade 8-9, and who are interested in becoming better leaders. This program covers curriculum that includes such topics as leadership, conflict resolution, child development and group dynamics that leads to the making of a better community leader.  Participation in the program does not guarantee future employment with the Town of Brewster.

Sailing Youth Leaders need prior sailing experience. Learning to Sail is not part of the curriculum. This program will begin to teach them how to teach and instruct youth beginner sailors. 

Youth Leaders attend program sessions and will be evaluated by the Sailing Director at the end of their session. If you have any questions, please call the Rec Office at 508 896 9430.

Sailing Program Youth Leader hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm.
**In response to the high amount of kids who want to be a Youth Leader for the sailing program: Please choose your first choice of two weeks. We only take 2 YL’s per week. If the YL schedule is not full by June 1, those weeks/spots will be offered to those already signed up. Only 2 weeks are guaranteed.
