radKIDS® Personal Empowerment Safety Education

Dates: Saturdays: April 27, 2024 - June 1, 2024 (no class held on May 25, 2024) 
Times: 1:00PM-2:30PM 
             1:00PM-3:00PM on June 1, 2024
Ages: Boys & Girls ages 5-7
Location: Eddy Elementary School: Cafeteria 
Price: Free (Registration Required)

Program Description: The Brewster Police Department in partnership with Brewster Recreation is hosting radKIDS®. The radKIDS® program is designed to increase children’s ability to recognize and avoid potentially dangerous situations, violence and harm. Student who participate in the radKIDS® Personal Empowerment Safety Education program are provided with information, tools and skills to better help them to protect themselves when in danger. radKIDS® centers on the development of self-esteem at every level of the educational process because children with self-confidence, personal boundaries and personal safety skills are more resilient and less likely to be victimized. This program is free and registration is required. 

radKIDS®
-builds a child’s self-esteem while helping them establish their own personal boundaries
-enhances a child’s ability to avoid victimization (Bullying, Abuse, Abduction)
-encourages communication between parents and children about personal safety
-reduces the feelings of guilt and blame that often are associated with victimization
-promotes disclosure of abuse and victimization
-enhances and coordinates community response creating culture change
-reinforces adult supervision and protection through a child-centered approach
